Phlebotomist

Contractor shall provide 2 Full-time Phlebotomist.

The candidate must be a qualified, current experience within last year as a phlebotomist.

This individual will accession specimens all types of incoming specimens and draw blood for inpatients and outpatients with highest quality standards for correctly identifying patients to ensure no errors occur.

During duty days/hours at the VAMC, the contractor shall be fully committed to VA patients and under the direction/supervision of the Supervisor of Phlebotomy.

The contract individual is expected to devote the time

necessary to deliver the highest quality services to the VA patients.

CLINICAL TASKS/DUTIES:

Principal responsibilities involve duties of drawing bloods following policies for positive patient identification for inpatients and outpatients as well accession all incoming specimens. Manual dexterity, keen observational skills and sound judgment are required to correctly identify patients prior to venipuncture.

a. Maintain congenial relationships with all VA staff.

b. Participate in other areas as assigned by the Supervisor of Phlebotomy.

TOUR OF DUTY: The Phlebotomist will be required to work from 7:30am – 4 pm or 8:00 am- 4:30 pm depending on the need of the service) for 40 hours, Monday through Friday with possible weekend rotation. A record keeping system of contractor hours worked shall be established.

Training/Orientation: Training will be conducted under the supervision of the Supervisor of Phlebotomy. COR will provide help with the record keeping of time and leave.

Technical Proficiency - Contract personnel (s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently. Contractor shall provide documents upon request of the CO/COR to verify current and ongoing competency, skills, certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care, treatment and/or services performed. Contractor shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history for all contract personnel(s) and contract personnel (s) shall be responsible for abiding by the Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and regulations (referenced herein) that govern medical staff behavior.

HOURS OF OPERATION : 3.1 VA Business Hours: VA business hours/hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00a – 4:30p. Work Schedule:

  • Regular work hours are 07:30am – 4:00pm: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including rotating weekends.
  • Second Shift, work hours are 03:30pm – Midnight: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including rotating weekends.
  • Third Shift, work hours are Midnight – 8:30 am, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including weekends or
  • 7 on 7 off shift work is desired
  • Other shifts at the needs of the service.
