NEEDED: Medical Records Clerk
LOCATION: 1000 University Drive SW, Waseca, MN 56093
SCHEDULE: 40 Hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, between 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS: Medical credentials and/or certification is helpful but not required to complete the duties of Medical Records Clerk.
Required knowledge and ability requirements for the position include:
- Knowledge of common medical appointment procedures.
- Knowledge of confidentiality guidelines and Freedom of Information Act.
- Knowledge of commonly used medical terminology, medical symbols, and medical abbreviations.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records.
- Ability to type medical reports.
JOB DUTIES: All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations.
- Shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC),
- Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.
- Shall monitor scheduled and unscheduled appointments of hospitalizations at community-based clinics or hospitals.
- Processing and assembling escorted trip authorization packets for an average of 10-12 routine, one to two emergency and special outside medical trips on a weekly basis.
- Ensuring each escorted trip authorization packet is reviewed by the appropriate Bureau of Prisons staff.
- Tracking appointments/cancellations and special instructions.
- Assisting in general clerical support functions as necessary.
