Dental Assistant

NiteLines USA is looking for a Dental Assistant to join the team! 

The Dental Assistant services as delineated below for the inmate population at the Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, West Virginia. 

Job Description

1. Be able to use and understand the dental equipment, instruments, and materials currently at FPC Alderson, WV.

2. Will become familiar with FBOP health record forms, their proper scanning, and security.

3. Provide chair side assistance to the dentist during restorative, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontic, and oral surgery procedures. This will be accomplished in the main clinic and in the satellite treatment rooms located in the lockdown areas.

4. Operate radiographic equipment, demonstrate proficiency in radiographic techniques, process films and properly mounts them for interpretation. They will demonstrate current knowledge in radiographic safety measures.

5. Perform screening exams and charts existing conditions under a dentist's, or physicians supervision.

6. Places transitional restorations in emergency situations.

7. Take preliminary prosthetic impressions and pour the models.

8. Remove sutures.

9. Deliver post-surgical care for alveolitis or persistent bleeding under the supervision of a dentist.

10. Re-cementation of fixed prosthodontics restorations under the supervision of a dentist.

11. Is certified to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR}.

12. Has knowledge of Infection Control Techniques.

13. Will be current in OSHA guidelines affecting the practice of dentistry.

14. Assist in scheduling patients for the dental clinic via call outs.

15. Maintain daily statistics of the patients seen in the dental clinic.

16. Possess a current and valid license/certificate from a United States jurisdiction.

17. Scanning of medical records and reports as needed.

18. Other duties as assigned.

19. The contractor will sign the Institution Contractors Log Located at the front entrance of the Institution; indicating the date of visit to the Institution, the time of arrival and departure and signature of time in and time out for any lunch breaks. This must be done for each visit.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS 

Shall ensure that Dental Assistant is free of infectious diseases which will require annual PPD testing, annual Influenza Vaccination, and Hepatitis B vaccine. Any individual performing as a Dental Assistant under this BP A who subsequently develops a medical condition which might reasonably be expected to place other workers, patients, or the public at risk shall be immediately removed from activities requiring performance of invasive procedures and activities which might reasonably be expected to place other workers, patients, or the public at risk. In any such case, the Contractors shall be responsible, at no additional cost to the institution, for securing the services of any replacement personnel required to perform this BP A. 

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS 

The Contractors must wear appropriate and professional attire (scrub uniforms are approved) at all times. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. The Contractor is prohibited from wearing khaki or green clothing of any type as this is the color clothing the inmate population wear. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands of this position are sedentary in nature. However, walking, prolonged standing, and sitting are required 

to accomplish the assigned tasks. Occasionally, the contractor will be required to lift boxes and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

Employee providing services will need to maintain certification and/or licensure and must have graduated from an accredited school; be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)

Have one or more current years of experience in Dental Assisting. 

Correctional experience is desirable, but not required. 

RESTRICTIONS ON CONTRACT WORKERS 

The Contractor shall not supervise inmates, supervise Bureau of Prisons staff, requisition, sign for, or pick up supplies, formulate  policy or procedures, or attend meetings, recalls or staff functions. 

PATIENT MANAGEMENT 

Each session shall result in individual patient contact. The institution assumes full responsibility for the management of their patients. The Contractor will be responsible for submitting medical reports.
