QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizen
- License Shall maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted license as a therapist in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
- Certifications: Shall be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
- Education and Experience: Two (2) years of hospital experience or two (2) years of ambulatory care experience
- Occupational Therapist education and degrees shall be recognized by the U.S Department of Education, from ACOTE accredited colleges, universities or institutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Will conduct occupational therapy assessments/evaluations, develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans to patients with diseases/illnesses/injuries that are acute, critical, or chronic in nature in conjunction with a combination of severe physical and/or mental disabilities.
- Should be able to perform the following evaluations to include, but not limited to, the following: standardized neurological occupational therapy evaluation, General Therapy Screenings, Activity of Daily Living evaluation, Instrumental Activity of Daily Living evaluation and adaptive equipment evaluation and assessment.
- Will formally and informally assess the patients’ physical, functional, psychosocial and emotional needs and use that information to develop a comprehensive and dynamic treatment plan which will enable each patient to achieve optimal levels of function in self-care, activities of daily living, work and leisure.
- Review paper and electronic records, note salient information, precautions and contraindications.
- Confer with significant others and interdisciplinary team members.
- To derive accurate information, will need a good grasp of commonly used methods, procedures and evidence-based tests.
- Required to develop time-limited functionally based short and long-term goals.
- Provide or oversee the direct patient care, selecting the most appropriate techniques to reach the established goals.
- Provide clear verbal and electronic communication of patient progress through thorough documentation of baseline measurements and ongoing assessment data.
- Begin discharge planning at the time of admission and provide necessary home education programs and after care.
- Assessment for the presence of physical/mental/cognitive deficits.
- Determination of function related problems including rationale or basis for making the assessment.
- Development of individual occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Use of data to implement individualized treatment program.
- Choice of therapy technique best suited to condition of patient to achieve maximum results.
- Assessment of adaptive equipment needs, such as manual wheelchairs, splints, braces, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- Assessment of therapeutic activities and adaptations needed for patient’s success.
Occupational Therapist Assessment: Shall complete all assessments accurately 100% of the time.
- Assessment for the presence of physical/mental/cognitive deficits.
- Determination of function related problems including rationale or basis for making the assessment.
- Development of individual occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Use of data to implement individualized treatment program.
- Choice of therapy technique best suited to condition of patient to achieve maximum results.
- Assessment of adaptive equipment needs, such as manual wheelchairs, splints, braces, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- Assessment of therapeutic activities and adaptations needed for patient’s success.
Occupational Therapist Treatment:
- Therapeutic exercises.
- Neuromuscular re-education.
- Cognitive Therapy
- Functional activity training.
- Prevention/ Treatment of UE pain
- Adaptive equipment evaluations and prescription.
- Wound/lymphedema
- Fabrication of splint
