NEEDED: PHYSICIAN(S) – Family Medicine and Internal Medicine

LOCATION(S): Services to be provided on-site at the VA San Diego Healthcare System locations:

  • VASDHS, 3350 La Jolla Village Dr., San Diego, CA 92161
  • Sorrento Valley CBOC, 10455 Sorrento Valley Rd, San Diego, CA 92121
  • Oceanside CBOC, 1300 Rancho del Oro Dr., Oceanside, CA 92056.
  • Kearny Mesa VA Clinic 8875 Aero Drive San Diego, CA 92123
  • Chula Vista VA Clinic 353 H Street Chula Vista, CA 91910

HOURS: Full-Time, Coverage, and As Needed. Normal clinic hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30PM

PAY STRUCTURE: 1099

QUALIFICATIONS:

US Citizen (we do not sponsor HB visas)

  • Hold a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia)
  • Licenses shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
  • Physician (s) who have current, full, and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this assignment.
  • Shall be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Have experience in providing scope of care.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency
  • All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times. 
  • Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided on an annual basis for each year of performance.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  • Physician (s) shall have or obtain appropriate National Provider Identifier (NPI), and if pertinent the Taxonomy Code confirmation notice issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES)
  • Shall provide copy of current DEA certificate.

SCOPE OF CARE: Physicians shall use the PACT model to provide primary care services supporting a continuum of care from prevention to diagnosis and treatment, to appropriate referral and follow-up.

Shall be responsible for caring for patients with simple to moderately complex conditions that can be appropriately managed in a primary care outpatient environment to include (but  not limited to) care for: hypertension, depression, ischemic heart disease, anxiety, alcohol use disorder, other mental health conditions, hypercholesterolemia, degenerative arthritis, congestive heart failure, respiratory infection, cerebral vascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), peripheral vascular disease, urinary tract infection, diabetes mellitus, common dermatological conditions, acute and chronic pain, acute wound management, gastric disease, skin ulcers (stasis and dermal), anemia,  genitourinary (GU) issues, stable chronic hepatic insufficiency, constipation, osteoporosis, common optic and optic conditions, basic diagnostic, evaluation,  and tests for infertility, preventive  screening and procedures, cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, pharmacology in pregnancy & lactation, evaluation & treatment of vaginitis, amenorrhea/menstrual disorders, evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding, menopause symptom management, diagnosis of pregnancy and initial screening tests, evaluation and management of acute  and chronic pelvic pain, recognition and management of postpartum depression and postpartum blues, evaluation and management of breast symptoms, (mass, fibrocystic breast disease, mastalgia,  nipple discharge,  mastitis, galactorrhea, mastodynia), crisis intervention, evaluation of psychosocial, well-being and risks including issues regarding abuse, intimate partner violence screening, physical, emotional, verbal, and psychological abuse, preconception counseling and assessment of abnormal cervical pathology.
