Mental Health Therapy Technician (1099)

Pay Rate: $35.00/Hour (1099)

Duration 6 months+

Location: Junction City, OR

Description:

  • A Mental Health Therapy Technician at The client provides essential support to patients with mental health conditions.
  • This role involves direct patient care, assisting with daily activities, and contributing to a therapeutic environment under the supervision of professional staff.
  • Technicians also play a crucial part in maintaining patient safety and security.
  • Providing basic physical care to patients, including assisting with daily living activities like hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
  • Implementing and supporting behavioral management strategies as directed by professional staff.
  • Ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff by following infection control protocols.
  • Maintaining a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors, including monitoring patient behavior and reporting any potential safety concerns.
  • Providing transportation and supervision for patients during appointments, activities, or other outings.
  • Contributing to the overall therapeutic atmosphere of the unit by engaging with patients, providing support, and promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of patient care and observations.
  • Working closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and psychiatrists, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

Requirements:

  • While a high school diploma is often the minimum requirement, some positions may require an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field like social work, psychology, or human services.
  • Some positions may require or prefer certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and other staff.
  • The ability to build rapport with patients, de-escalate tense situations, and work collaboratively within a team is crucial.
  • The ability to assess situations, identify potential problems, and implement appropriate solutions is necessary.
  • The job may require standing, walking, and assisting patients with physical needs.
