NEEDED: Interventional Radiology Technologists

LOCATION: 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209

STATUS: FULL-TIME

HOURS: Forty (40) hours per week; exact shift/duty hours to be determined by area supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) national registry and an advanced certification in another imaging modality.
  • Ability to independently perform Interventional Radiology (IR) and general radiology procedures for Veterans receiving medical care at the Columbia VAHCS.
  • Successfully completes all required educational classes and successfully receives all Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) as governed by the ARRT, to maintain an active status with the ARRT.
  • Completes all education in TMS in timely manner.
  • Maintains certification in BLS or AED.

DUTIES:

  • Performs, under the direction of an Interventional Radiologist, a full range of radiological procedures including angiography, venography, operating room radiography, interventional procedures and fluoroscopic studies as the service workload dictates.
  • Performs the technical functions related to all complex imaging procedures such as biopsies, angiograms, venograms, embolization, catheter thrombectomies, thrombolysis and arterial/venous stents.
  • Ensures any necessary setups such as biopsy trays and interventional trays, are prepared and in conformance with strict sterile techniques.
  • Should be able to perform IR exams covering as listed: Biopsies, Drainages, Stent placement,
  • Angiograms with Interventions, CO2 Angiography, Stent Placement, Balloon Angioplasty
  • Arteriovenous (AVF) procedures with interventions, EVAR (AAA endograft procedures),
  • Tunneled HD catheters (placement and removal), PICC Line placement/removal, Venograms
  • Venous procedures, IVC filter placemen/removal, Embolization’s, Port placement/removal.  
  • Must adhere to 2022 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) standards/guidelines.
  • Must be continuously on the alert to the patient’s condition and other disorders.
  • Adverse reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so that harm does not come to the patient or equipment.
