NEEDED: Phlebotomy Technician
LOCATION: 1000 University Drive SW, Waseca, MN 56093
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, between 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The contractor shall have valid certification to practice as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
- Shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Must have proof of experience with specimen collection, packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records.
- To be considered, must provide a resume and supporting documentation along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support stated qualification.
JOB DUTIES: The Phlebotomist is responsible for the provision of, but not limited to the following:
- Will provide Phlebotomy Services in a method commensurate with the local community.
- Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates.
- Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
- Ensure that lab requests are completed properly, and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
- Collect data relating to laboratory efforts (usage, types of lab studies, prompt receipt of orders and timely return of results by contract labs, etc.) and relay date to Health Services staff as needed.
- Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
