NEEDED: Certified Phlebotomy Technician
LOCATION: 4500 Prison Road, Marion Illinois 62959
SCHEDULE: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, not to exceed 40 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a professional certification as a Phlebotomy Technician in the State of Illinois with a preference of a minimum of six (6) months’ experience in healthcare.
- Shall have valid certification/license to practice in the State of Illinois and must submit photocopies of their license and/or board certification.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Resume must provide details of experience with specimen collection, packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records.
- Must possess knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to perform job activities on various types of medical equipment and automated systems and of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
- Possess the ability to relate and deal effectively with Physicians, peers, adults in custody, and others
- Ability to recognize, report, and record changes in patient's physical and emotional condition.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient’s vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates.
- Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the Reference Lab and documented per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
- Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file/scan results in lab and medical record.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
- Complete and scan into BEMR the Medical Treatment Refusal forms for any AIC that wishes to refuse
- laboratory testing ordered by clinical staff.
