Pay: $69.09 (W2) per hour to $77 (1099) per hour.

LOCATION: 13777 Air Expressway Blvd., Victorville, CA 92394

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday, as needed between 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM, for 120 workdays annually. Total: 960 hours annually

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be certified to practice medicine in the State of California.
  • Must have at least one or more years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
  • Possess and submit evidentiary documentation of graduation from an accredited school.

JOB DUTIES: Shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:

  • Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff.
  • Perform Advance Practice Practitioner duties within the scope of the current licensure.
  • Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intravenously, intradermally, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly.
  • Assist with distribution of medications at pill line.
  • Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy.
  • Perform history and physicals.
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate.
  • Take medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and JACHO policy Screen laboratory. tests/results for normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physicians.
  • Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ability and skill to operate EKG.
  • Make a diagnosis, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications.
  • Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing.
  • Attend to medical emergencies.
  • Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy.
  • Emergency consultation to be performed in instances were deemed necessary.
  • Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans.
  • Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services.
  • Disseminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems.
  • Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call, which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations.
  • Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician.
  • Perform duties as required, but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws.
