NEEDED: Nurse Practitioner

LOCATION: 741-925 Herlong Access Rd. A-25, Herlong, CA 96113

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of California or Nevada.
  • Must have 1-2 years of family medicine experience or 1-2 years of urgent care experience.
  • Must hold, at minimum, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and stay current with certification.
  • Providing proof of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education, etc.).

JOB DESCRIPTION: Shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:

  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population.
  • Conduct medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory tests, x-ray and other diagnostic testing.
  • Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely, and professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary.
  • Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing
  • Attend to medical emergencies
  • Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy
  • Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary. Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits
  • Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
  • Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of health care services
  • Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
  • Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick calls, which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
  • Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
