FL-DCF-Chattahoochee-FSH-Construction Manager (795194)

Pay rate: $57.47 per hour.

Temp: (4 months+).

Job location: Florida State Hospital: 100 North Main Street, Chattahoochee, FL 32324 and occasionally: DCF Headquarters  2415 N. Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303. 

Hybrid Position

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (May require nights and weekends).

Job Description:

In this capacity, the Construction Manager would represent the Department’s interests throughout all phases of the project and provide day-to-day coordination, oversight, and communication to ensure the work is executed in accordance with contract requirements, approved plans, schedules, budgets, and applicable codes and standards. Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the single point of contact between the Department and the REDM Construction Management firm.
  • Coordinating and participating in project meetings, site visits, and inspections.
  • Monitoring construction progress, milestones, and schedules and identifying risks or delays.
  • Reviewing and facilitating Department input on submittals, change requests, and project documentation.
  • Ensuring construction activities align with Department operational needs, safety requirements, and continuity of services at Florida State Hospital.
  • Elevating issues, concerns, or required decisions to Department leadership in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with project close-out activities, including punch lists, acceptance, and documentation.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Hold a Valid Florida driver's license and pass a level 2 background.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No mandatory certifications required.
  • Construction project oversight or construction management experience (5+ years).
  • Experience serving as an owner’s representative or liaison on construction projects (3+ years).
  • Experience coordinating with construction management firms, contractors, and facility stakeholders (3+ years).
  • Experience with public-sector or institutional facilities (preferred healthcare/behavioral health).

Preferred experience/skills:

  • Experience with state facilities or large campus environments.
  • Knowledge of Florida public procurement and construction oversight requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in occupied facilities.

Travel: Minimum or moderate travel may be required to different job sites within Gadsden County (primary) or Leon County.  No overnight stays required.  Travel by personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement) or possibly state vehicle (TBD).
