NEEDED: Registered Nurse
LOCATION: 741-925 Herlong Access Road A-25, Herlong, CA 96113
HOURS: Not to exceed 40 hours per week
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
SCHEDULE:
- 8 hours per day / 5 days per week
- 10 hours per day / 4 days per week
QUALIFICATIONS –
- Must be certified to practice medicine in California or Nevada.
- Providing verification of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education), and proof of malpractice insurance.
- Must have at least three or more years of experience.
- Background clearance packets submitted by potential contractor employees shall be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of their current license.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
JOB DUTIES - Shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff
- Perform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensure
- Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intradermal, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly
- Assist with distribution of medications at pill line
- Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy
- Perform skin testing
- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate
- Take medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
- Perform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimens
- Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and AAAHC/JC policy. Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lab values and notify the physician or physicians.
- Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Ability and skill to operate EKG
- Clinically manage injuries by splinting, and immobilizing
- Attend to medical emergencies
- Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
- Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
- Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
- Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
- Perform duties as required but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws.
- Assist with all aspects of the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program, within the scope of practice of current licensure.
