We are currently seeking Dental Hygienists in the Bastrop, TX area. The prospective employee will provide Dental Hygiene duties and provide support which will include all clinical activities needed for the inmate population at the FCI Bastrop.
Required for submittal:
- Three letters of professional reference.
- Copy of Hygienist license/certification.
- Copy of radiology certification.
Location: Federal Correctional Institution Bastrop; 1341 N. State Highway 95, Bastrop, TX, 78602.
Pay Rate: $53.59 per hour.

Schedule: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 7:30am–4:00pm, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience is preferred yet not required.
- Dental Hygienist license from the State of Texas and/or board certification.
- Dental radiology certification required
- Anesthesia certification preferred, not required
Duties:
- Provide dental prophylaxis, other preventive oral health services, and other periodontal services on inmates
- Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions for each patient.
- Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis.
- Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist.
- Provides oral health care services such as suture removal, administration of local anesthetic, and other services (if trained).
- Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff.
- Oversee health services’ housekeeping and infection control procedures.
- Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff.
- Track scheduling of patient care.
- Ability to collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system.
- Must have knowledge and experience in maintaining medical records and confidentiality.
- Any other reasonable tasks needed by the health services unit, or assigned by supervisory staff, that are related to health services.
