NEEDED: Dental Hygienist

LOCATION:  1341 N. State Highway 95, Bastrop, TX, 78602

SCHEDULE: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, not to exceed 40 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS: Your documents will essentially conduct your initial for you on your behalf. To be considered, serious applicants should submit a copy of the following documents:

  1. Resume with a minimum of three years of experience is preferred yet not required.
  2. Photocopies of a Dental Hygienist license from the State of Texas and/or board certification,
  3. Provide photocopies of all their dental certifications,
  4. Dental radiology certification required
  5. Anesthesia certification preferred, not required
  6. Provide three letters of reference from professional peers
  7. Sign a consent for release of information for verification of credentials

JOB DUTIES: Shall provide the following Dental Hygienist services, which include, but are not limited to, the items listed below.

  • Provide dental prophylaxis, other preventive oral health services, and other periodontal services on inmates who are referred by the dental staff
  • Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions to each patient
  • Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis
  • Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist
  • Provides oral health care services such as suture removal, administration of local anesthetic, and other services (if trained)
  • Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff
  • Oversee health services’ housekeeping and infection control procedures
  • Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff
  • Track scheduling of patient care
  • Ability to collect and track data and enter data in the agency’s electronic system
  • Must have knowledge and experience in maintaining medical records and confidentiality
  • Any other reasonable tasks needed by the health services unit, or assigned by supervisory staff, that are related to health services
