NEEDED: Phlebotomy Technician

LOCATION: 1000 Airbase Road, Pollock, LA 71467

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, not to exceed 40 hours per week

QUALIFICATION:

  • Be fully licensed or certified as any of the following:
    • Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
    • Medical Assistant (MA)
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
    • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
    • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
    • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) years’ experience basic laboratory and phlebotomy skills as required for ACLIA Wavered Laboratory Certificate.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of Phlebotomy Services and the ability to perform services as described in the Description of Work Section
  • The Contractor must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • The Contractor must provide proof of experience with specimen collection, packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records and three (3) letters of reference.
  • The Contractor shall provide a resume and requested documentation along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support stated qualification.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient’s vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, and vaccine programs.
  • Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.
  • Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
  • Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, ACLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
  • Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
