Radiation Oncologist (PRN)

This position will be working at the VA Medical Center in San Juan, PR.

PRN hours:

  • Provide coverage for scheduled clinics and ensure continuity of patient care during absences, leave, or emergencies.
  • Provide replacement coverage within 2 hours if unforeseen circumstances prevent completion of an assigned shift.

Clinical Care and Treatment:

Provide direct radiation oncology services for Veteran patients, including:

  • Clinical consultations, treatment planning, on-treatment visits, follow-up care.
  • Oversight of IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SBRT, and SRS protocols.
  • Review and approval of treatment plans, dose distributions, and image guidance.
  • Collaboration with medical physicists, dosimetrists, RTTs, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. with completed ACGME-accredited Radiation Oncology residency.
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) Certification in Radiation Oncology (required).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging.
  • DEA registration.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Demonstrated competency in modern radiation therapy modalities (IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS, VMAT).
  • Experience using ARIA/Eclipse or comparable systems.
  • Strong understanding of ACR/ASTRO/AAPM clinical standards and NRC regulations (10 CFR Parts 19, 20, 30, 33, 35, 71).

Preferred

  • Prior VA clinical experience.
  • Experience working with Veteran populations.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience with ACR/ASTRO accreditation programs or participation in radiation oncology QA/QI committees.
