NEEDED: Pharmacy Technician
LOCATION: 8901 S. Wilmot Rd, Tucson, AZ, 85756
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, between 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Have experience working as a Pharmacy Technician for at least one year
- Have and be a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Must have a medical/technical background obtained through education or on-the-job training in the pharmaceutical field
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have computer and typing skills.
- Shall have and maintain a current CPR certification.
- College level training in the sciences and mathematics is desirable but is not required.
- Should be proficient in maintaining adequate inventories of all medications and medical supplies and preparing the proper paperwork for replenishment of inventory, as well as maintaining an expiration date log to ensure that no outdated or expired stock remains in the inventory.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

JOB DUTIES:
- Reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff.
- Selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage from prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using computer systems.
- Preparing prescriptions for review by a pharmacist prior to dispensing, and giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate.
- Can be responsible for the running of prescription bac pick up lines.
- Assist the Pharmacist in ensuring the only medications listed in the approved BOP Formulary are dispensed and will ensure request for non-formulary medications are initiated and submitted to the Pharmacist for approval.
- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the central pharmacy, pyxis machines, emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
- Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications and refilling of pyxis machines.
- Maintain accountability of needle and syringe inventories and DEA controlled substance inventories. Discrepancies are to be immediately reported to the Chief Pharmacist.
- Employees will be trained and utilize the pharmacy computer system and any additional automation equipment.
- Prepare recommended supply lists to orders pharmaceuticals, maintain the pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion, maintain stock of appropriate forms utilized in the pharmacy department.
- In the absence of the Pharmacist, contractor will maintain the Pharmacy Operation, within guidelines governing the duties of the Pharmacy Technician. Prescriptions must be reviewed by a pharmacist prior to dispensing to the inmate population.
- Assist in updating patient education literature, assist in improvement of performance studies, maintain syringe accountability, and assist the Pharmacist in meeting policy guidelines.
