NEEDED: Pharmacy Technician

LOCATION: 1000 Airbase Road, Pollock, Louisiana 71467

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, not to exceed 40 hours per week, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM with occasional requirement to work a weekend or holiday

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Shall possess the necessary skills, abilities, and credentials to perform services of a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Must have a medical/technical background obtained through education (or) on the job training in the pharmaceutical field.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess a current, and unrestricted, State pharmacy technician license and be certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Must have computer and typing skills.
  • Three years of experience or have a certificate of training for Pharmacy Technician services.
  • A Valid Driver's License.
  • Proof of CPR (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain one.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff, selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage form prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using computer systems, preparing prescriptions for review by a pharmacist prior to dispensing, and giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate.
  • Proficiently maintaining adequate inventories of all medications and medical supplies, and preparing proper paperwork for replenishment, as well as ensuring that no outdated or expired stock remains in inventory.
  • Preparing recommended supply lists to order pharmaceuticals, maintaining pharmacy areas in a clean and
  • orderly fashion, maintaining stock of appropriate forms utilized in the pharmacy department and maintaining stock of appropriate forms and supplies.
  • Utilizing available unit-dose repackaging automation to repackage bulk medications into appropriately labeled unit-dose packages for use by other BOP sites.
  • Assist with packaging prescriptions filled for remote pharmacy service into boxes suitably packaged and labeled for overnight courier shipment.
  • Assist with processing return to stock shipments of unused prescriptions from remote pharmacy sites, and restocking medications as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations during the performance of above duties.
