NEEDED: DENTAL ASSISTANT
LOCATION: 1640 Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 7.5 to 10 hours sessions per day, Monday – Friday (except holidays), between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- US Citizen
- 6 months of experience or have successfully completed a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or Equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must provide a resume and supporting documentation with a copy of diplomas and/or certificates as proof of stated qualification.
- Completion of a dental radiologic safety program or educational course
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Preferred qualifications and experience include:
- Experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting (preferred)
- Completion of a dental radiologic safety program or educational course (preferred)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations and documentation.
- Retrieve patient's records and escorts patients to proper dental specialty sections, seat and prepare patient for attending.
- Assist Dental officer by preparing dental instruments, essentials material, drugs and medication; passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavity, and operates aspirator; observes patients responses, and assist patient for dismissal from dental clinic; gives instructions for sub sequential dental appointment; makes necessary entries on dental treatment records; prepares dental treatment room for next patient; assist in the treatment of emergency cases.
- Maintains dental equipment; cleans, sharpens, and sterilizes instruments; performs daily inspections and inventory of equipment and makes minor repairs; reports defective equipment, or utilizes corrective action.
- Repairs dental prosthesis and appliances under supervision; performs daily inspections of equipment, and repair of complete denture prosthesis and removable partial prosthesis, using acrylic resins and porcelain as basic materials.
- Documents and reviews patient records, maintains and conducts audits as needed utilizing BEMR and Sentry, documentation.
- Takes radiographs of patients using standard dental radiographic, panelipse, cephalometric, and transcranial equipment; obtains diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, lateral, jaw, TMJ, and panographic radiographs; positions patient and film and determines level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure of patients; upload images into BEMR.
- Performs and interprets four ( 4) quality assurances on a schedule basis on radiographic techniques; and is responsible for maintaining proper infection control procedures in radiographic techniques; and sterilizes contaminated biological waste of dental clinic several times a day.
- Specific directions related primarily to unusual treatment concerning emergency professional therapy are given by the attending dentist who explains changes in professional dental procedures that are available to resolve such problems, and renders advice as needed.
- Guidelines consist of applicable professional practices and specific written and oral instructions.
- Expanded duties will include placing and finishing dental restorations, including bases and liners. Making primary impressions and pouring of the casts. Tooth shade selection for composite restorations and dentures.
