Title: Registered Nurse

Pay rate: $45.00-$50.00/hr

Location: Iowa Medical Center-Department of Corrections, Coralville, IA

Duration: 13-week contract.

Hours: 10:00pm-6:00am, Monday-Friday

Job Description:

  • Assessment: RNs evaluate patients' physical and mental health, identifying any medical needs or emergencies.
  • Medication Administration: They administer prescribed medications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
  • Treatment Implementation: RNs carry out treatment plans developed by physicians, including wound care, dressing changes, and other medical procedures.
  • Monitoring: They closely observe patients' conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical staff.
  • Patient and Family Education: Health Education’s educate patients about their conditions, medications, and treatment plans, empowering them to manage their health. Disease Prevention: They provide information on preventive measures and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Family Supporters offer guidance and support to patients' families, addressing their concerns and providing information about patient care.
  • Care Coordination: Care Planning’s develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Discharge Planning’s assist with discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition for patients returning to the general population or being released.
  • Documentation’s maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Emergency Response: They respond to medical emergencies, provide immediate care and coordinating with emergency services.
  • Infection Controller’s implement and monitor infection control procedures to prevent the spread of illness.
  • Supervision: They may supervise other nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
