Pay rate: $68.00 hr (1099)
Location: Harris County Public Health Northeast Pod 10918 1/2 Bentley Dr. Houston, TX, 77093
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Job Description
- The Clinical Health Services (CHS) Mid-Level Provider functions as a healthcare provider under the supervision of the Community Health and Wellness Division (CHWD) Clinical Lead and the medical oversight of the CHWD supervising Physician.
- The Mid-Level Provider delivers safe and compassionate care as a vital member of the healthcare team, providing patient-centered care and ensuring patient safety.
- This role serves patients seeking services from the (CHS)
- Program, working with the clinical team to create and maintain efficient, patient-centered daily clinic operations while providing comprehensive care to all Harris County Public Health patients.
- The provider operates within the legal scope of practice for a Mid-Level Provider and adheres to federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Harris County Public Health (HCPH).
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with the Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, Nursing practice act, and Harris County Public Health (HCPH) procedures and protocols. Complies with US Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) guidelines for treating/screening program-specific clients.
- Completes and reviews health histories, performs physical examinations, and reviews and orders appropriate laboratory tests and immunizations.
- Orders and monitors prescribed medication in accordance with Pharmacy D regulations.
- Makes referrals to other providers or agencies, as appropriate.
- Uses Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) expertise to serve as a mentor and resource person to all clinical staff.
- Seeks to assure that policies and procedures are followed.
- Assists with training new clinical staff.
- Attends and actively participates in clinical provider meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirement:
- Master's degree as an Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or as an Advanced Practice Provider Physician Assistant
- Licensed to practice in Texas as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certified
- At least one (1) year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an out-patient clinical setting.
- Candidates to have experience with IUD insertion and removal
- Nexplanon certification.
- Valid TX Drivers License
- Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified
- Preferred Experience working in family planning medical clinics
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a professional clinic environment, community setting, and occupationally a medical mobile unit.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Requirement:
This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
