NEEDED: Pharmacy Technician

LOCATION: St. Route 716, Ashland, KY 41105

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, between 6:30 AM and 3:00 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have evidence of Certification and/or training as a Pharmacy Technician; evidence of experience with performance of pharmacy technician duties; pharmacy computer skills, maintaining stock inventories; proof of medical liability insurance coverage at the required levels; three (3) letters of reference.
  • Providing evidence of certification for completion of an approved course in Pharmacy Technology leading to a certificate of completion or comparable training or experience found to be acceptable by the Chief Pharmacist and/or HSA.

JOB DUTIES: Pharmacy Technician shall provide the following services, which include, but are not limited to the items listed below:

  • Assisting the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and BOP Formulary constraints.
  • Maintaining pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assisting the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the Main Pharmacy, Satellite Camp, both crash carts, Emergency bags and Automated Dispensing systems.
  • Assisting the Pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication cards for AIC(s) as well as filing Medication Administration Record's into the Medical Record.
  • Assisting the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
  • Complete and maintain competency as indicated by ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of BOP Formulary and any changes to this document.
  • Maintain the narcotics count along with the needle and syringe inventories.  
  • Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the "Night Stock" cabinet and perform audits of said "Night Stock" or Automated Dispensing System.
  • Must possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
  • Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance data and Quality Assurance activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.
