NEEDED: Phlebotomists (3)

LOCATION: Route 15, 2 miles North of Allenwood, PA 17810

SCHEDULE:

  • 40 hours per week, between 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Schedule subject to change based on the variable needs of the institution

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Shall be certified in Phlebotomy.
  • Must possess a GED or higher
  • Must have one year of experience or related training in venipuncture and testing collection (required).
  • Must provide verification of credentials (education, current licensure/certification in any U.S. State or Territory, status of competency, continuing medical education).
  • Must maintain current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • Shall have the ability to read, understand, count, fluently speak, and legibly write the English language.
  • Must possess knowledge of medical terminology, capable of reading and interpreting practitioner orders, possess good organization skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and computer and typing skills.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide phlebotomy services for those AIC patients referred by the Health Services Unit.
  • All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of phlebotomy services and in compliance with all Federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing and DNA per procedure.
  • Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly, and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Laboratory Policy/Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein.
  • Notify the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the communications concerns between the BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance concerns of equipment and needed supplies.
  • Notify healthcare staff of critical laboratory results as reported by the laboratory testing site.
  • Maintain records required outside of BEMR, (i.e. needle accountability, pathology/HIV/CD4/8 reports per BOP policy)
