NEEDED: Medical Office Assistant (4)
LOCATION: Route 15, 2 miles North of Allenwood, PA 17810
SCHEDULE:
- 40 hours per week, between 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
- Schedule subject to change based on the variable needs of the institution
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Must have a minimum of six months experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Industry-recognized credentials, such as Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), are required.
- Must provide verification of credentials (education, current licensure/certification in any U.S. State
- or Territory, status of competency, continuing medical education).
- Must maintain current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- Shall have the ability to read, understand, count, fluently speak, and legibly write the English language.
- Must possess knowledge of medical terminology, capable of reading and interpreting practitioner orders,
- possess good organization skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and computer and typing skills.
JOB DUTIES: The services performed by the Medical Assistant shall include, but not limited to, the following:
Administrative Duties-
- Utilize computer applications to include BEMR/SENTRY/Microsoft operating systems.
- Answer telephones and coordinate the obtaining of medical reports from outside providers.
- Update both electronic and paper medical records daily.
- Update medical records diagnosis coding as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Schedule appointments in BEMR/SENTRY and contact AIC units during changes in schedule or "no shows" to ensure the orderly running of the clinic.
- Contact local hospital admissions for clinical updates.
- Respond to inmate requests via the AIC e-mail system and refer them to their provider for clinical specific questions.
Clinical Duties-
- Take medical histories, explain treatment procedures to patients, prepare patients for examinations.
- Assist the healthcare providers during exams.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Conduct electrocardiograms.
- Remove sutures and change dressings.
- Administer immunizations as ordered.
