LOCATION: COLUMBUS CIVIC CENTER 400 4th St, Columbus, GA 31901
HOURS: As Needed/ Event Driven, 7 days a week, Monday-Sunday, 12:00 AM – 12:00 PM
DRESS CODE: Black or brown shoes and black pants

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Replaces and repairs pipes; replaces fire sprinkler heads; repairs leaks.
- Repairs sinks, showers, water heaters, dishwashers, and food waste disposers; unclogs sinks, showers, and sewer lines.
- Install new plumbing equipment, including sinks, urinals, toilets, and hot water heaters; run new water and gas lines.
- Repairs irrigation pipes and heads.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Maintains an inventory of tools.
- Supervises inmates.
- Digs ditches.
- Assists with HVAC and electrical projects as needed.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Works special events.
- Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
- Knowledge of plumbing principles and tools.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Skills in organizing work. Skills in interpersonal relations.
- Skills in oral and written communication.
Educational and Training Requirements:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Required to supervise state inmate labor.
- Must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by the department which is normally six months but may be altered.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching.
- Frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.
