Job Title: Catholic Religious Education Coordinator and Community Liaison

Job Type: Part-time - Flexible (Minimum of 25 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hours per week)
Job Location: Keesler AFB, MS

Qualifications:

  • Have or be able to receive the Basic Catechist Certificate issued by the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS), USA within 75 days of start date.
  • Have evidence of advanced studies in theology or religion. A Master’s degree in Theology or Religious Studies, or an Advanced Certificate in Catechesis is preferred.
  • Coordinators of Religious Education who have not earned a Master’s degree in Theology or Religious Studies are required to pursue an advanced certificate in catechesis.
  • Provide resume and evidence/portfolio including academic and work-related experience to show a minimum of one (1) year experience in the Family Faith Assessment Program, or teaching, coordinating and directing a Religious Education program in a chapel/church setting.
  • Have the ability to work with Chaplain Corps staff and volunteers to plan, implement and evaluate Religious Education goals and objectives.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
  • Have the ability to effectively accomplish assigned tasks with minimal oversite.
  • Have the ability to effectively use a computer and associated software, including the following Microsoft programs: MS: Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel

Job Summary:

The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator and Community Liaison is responsible for organizing, coordinating and managing the religious education program in a Catholic parish or school. Additionally, the Coordinator will act as a liaison between the parish or school and the community by developing relationships with external organizations to enhance the church's outreach programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage the religious education program, ensuring the curriculum conforms to Catholic doctrine and teaching.

• Recruit, train and supervise religious education teachers, ensuring they are adequately equipped and resourceful in their delivery of lessons.

• Develop and maintain a database of students, volunteers and staff in the religious education program.

• Work collaboratively with the parish or school staff to ensure that the religious education program complements the overall mission and direction of the school or parish.

• Encourage participation and engagement in religious education programs and activities by promoting them.

• Act as a liaison between the parish or school and the community, developing relationships with external organizations to enhance the church's outreach programs.

• Promote the mission and values of the church in the wider community.

• Develop and manage budgets, fundraising and marketing initiatives for the religious education program.
