Medical Records Technician $2,000.00 sign-on bonus
Opportunity Summary:
McAshan, Inc. (SDVOSB) is seeking multiple Medical Records Technicians to work with us in support of the Army National Guard. Our services do not require nursing or medical certifications, as all administrative tasks do not include clinical decision-making. However, a background in medicine or social work for those who have not worked in a medical records program is extremely valuable. The service goal is to provide program development, oversight, and execution to execute the Army National Guard medical readiness directives. The end state goal is high medical readiness and deployment for all Kansas Army National Guard (KSARNG) Soldiers.
Schedule:
Our employees typically provide services between the core hours of 0800 to 1700 on Monday through Friday. Employees may be required to work one weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday). Service hours for these weekend requirements may be from as early as 0600 and as late as 2100. Such activities will be scheduled at least thirty days in advance.
Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- 1-3 Years’ experience in social work, medical case management, or as medical support assistant/clerk
- Valid Driver’s License
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
Responsibilities:
- Employees may be required to work one weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday)

- Such activities will be scheduled at least thirty days in advance
- Attend SRP events as determined by the needs of the state and individual Units
- Telephone/Email Soldiers and Physician/Dental offices to obtain information as directed by the Case Manager
- Provide dedicated assistance in support of medical Case Management
- Obtain completed Release of Information Form from Soldiers
- Generate official memorandums IAW AR 25-50
- Responsible for tracking the medical status of ALL assigned Soldiers and maintaining accurate reports of all cases
- Responsible for medical and administrative charting in eCase and MEDCHART
- Provide maintenance and accountability of Soldier Service Treatment Records IAW Army Regulation (AR) 40-66
- Scan and upload Medical/Dental documents into the Health Readiness Record (HRR) program
- Organize & File Medical/Dental documents into Soldiers’ hard copy Service Treatment Records
- Accurately index uploaded Medical/Dental documents
- Process all STR requests to include active and retired/discharged Soldiers as well as Interstate Transfers promptly
- Assist in scrubbing MEDPROS data/spreadsheets before SRPs to assist in the early identification of non-deployable Soldiers
- Review Order Logs and process them accordingly when Soldier’s status changes
- Organize and process Discharged STRs in Record Holding Area to include scanning, indexing, and filing
- Complete State Validation Rosters to verify accurate data processing of STRs
- Maintain automated referrals indicated in MEDCHART
- Perform data entry into MEDCHART or other military medical databases of Soldier’s administration and medical statuses
- Submit case processing, medical documentation, and profile concerns to military/contracted providers
- Follow the regulations and policies applicable to Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) and deployment, including the AR 40-501 and other applicable guidance
- Ensure all medical documentation received from the Soldier, Medical Readiness NCO or physician’s office is received and placed in HRR and the Soldier’s STR
- Ensure Records Manager or delegate is provided with all relevant Medical/Dental documentation
- Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
- Log in eCase and MEDCHART any contact with SM (email, voice call, or personal interview
- Communicate with Medical Readiness NCO regarding the determined medical status of the Soldier
- Report Medical Readiness to the Commander or their designated representative
- Provide a weekly report on the number of referrals initiated, active cases and closed cases
