Respiratory Therapist
We are currently looking to fill a potential Registered Respiratory Therapists opportunity as described below:

POSITION: Registered Respiratory Therapists
General Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment.
LOCATION: Long Beach, CA 90822.
HOURS: 40 Hours per week or 80 hours every two weeks
- Must have recent 840 Vent experience.
- The normal tour of duty is comprised of six (6) twelve (12) hour shifts, and one (1) eight (8) hour shift amounting to eighty (80) hours per 2-week period.
- Flexible availability required 24/7; including holidays,
- The need for the Registered Respiratory Therapist is for 24/7 coverage of the Inpatient Units throughout the Medical Center that require this specialized care
- A monthly work schedule listing the dates and duty scheduled shall be provided by the 20th of each month for the succeeding month. Proposed work schedule changes shall be submitted to the COR or designee at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to scheduled shifts.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to )
- Registered Respiratory Therapists shall provide a range of services in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein.
- Provide coverage of the Inpatient Units throughout the Medical Center and in the Sleep Laboratory that require specialized care.
- The Registered Respiratory Therapists will administer medications to the respiratory tract, including bronchodilators, decongestants, wetting agents, mucous emulsifying agents, and steroids; Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with hospital and department policy and procedure; Perform Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) and/or Spirometry Tests; Responds and performs all duties accordance with Hospital Code. These tests given to patients will result in beneficial outcomes and improve the quality of life of the patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizen
- Shall be licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are a condition of employment.
- Possess National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials as Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Must be familiar with multiple Mechanical Ventilators and have proficiency in ventilation management.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties of the Registered Respiratory Therapists may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with Intubations;
- Draw Arterial Blood Gasses (ABGs) and interpretation;
- Pulmonary Screens;
- Pressure Control;
- Utilize Hand Held Nebulizers;
- Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB) Treatments;
- Administer medications to the respiratory tract, including bronchodilators, decongestants, wetting agents, mucous emulsifying agents, and steroids;
- Perform CPR in accordance with hospital and department policy and procedure;
- Perform PFTs and/or Spirometry Tests;
- Responds and performs all duties associated with Hospital Codes.
- Serves as a resource person to nursing staff in the use of respiratory equipment.
