NEEDED: Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

LOCATION: Coleman, Florida 33521

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday (except federal holidays), 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: A graduate or higher-level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. 
  • Licensure Advance Practice Practitioner (NP and/or PA):  Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, Nurse Practitioners must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position.
  • Licensure PA: Must possess and electronically upload proof of a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and law enforcement background check

JOB DUTIES:

  • Advance Practice Practitioner (PA and/or NP) will perform comprehensive evaluations and treatment within their scope of practice in the area of male health.
  • Will document all encounters in their electronic medical chart on a daily basis.
  • Will be monitored/supervised by the Health Services Administrator and clinical monitored/supervised by the Clinical Director.
  • All reports and or documentation written by the PA/NP will be reviewed and cosigned by the Clinical Director or designee.
  • All recommendations for further diagnostic testing and/or treatment will be made to the Clinical Director, who will retain professional responsibility for patients referred.
  • Contracted staff shall provide, on a non-discriminatory basis, the following services:
  • Provide specialized medical services to outpatients and provide medical care.
  • Specific duties may involve all aspects of health care delivery and will work in concert with both institutional staff and consultant specialists in various clinical areas.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with current accepted medical practices and procedures.
  • Perform complete physical examinations.
  • Collects comprehensive medical and social history to include a review of all body systems.
  • Performs physical assessment in correlation with historical findings, record preliminary objective findings.
  • Examine and order appropriate diagnostic testing and provide necessary treatment and/or medications as required.
  • Refer selected cases to consultant specialists when necessary.
  • Refer inmates requiring hospitalization to a community hospital and to an appropriately admitting physician. Additionally, the clinician may see inmate patients who are in locked status, in their designated housing area or housed in segregation units.
  • Conducts examinations of personnel as required for appointment.
  • Approves or disapproves examinations in such cases from a medical viewpoint and in accordance with current established medical standards for employees.
  • Administer or direct administration of both curative and preventative inoculations.
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and fully utilizes health services for treatment, rehabilitation, and diagnostic modalities.
  • Physicians will assist with CPR, utilize AED, and other basic first aid skills within the scope of their practice during emergencies until the arrival of EMS crew.
  • Ensure that proper evaluations and treatments are carried out and documented.
  • Shall constantly monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care, providing data to the institution Quality Assurance Committee, and other agencies or committees as required.
