NEEDED: Pharmacy Technician
LOCATION: 80 29th Street Brooklyn, New York 11232
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
QUALIFICAITONS:
- US Citizen
- Must have completed a formal pharmacy training program with at least two (2) months of course credit and satisfactorily completed internship.
- Must have at least one (1) year of Pharmacy Technician experience,
- Must have a current CPR certification
- Must possess knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to perform job activities on various types of medical equipment and automated systems and safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
- Possess the ability to relate and deal effectively with Physicians, peers, AICs, and others.
- Ability to recognize, report, and record changes in patient’s physical and emotional condition.
- Ability to administer medication.
- Shall have the ability to read, understand, count, fluently speak, and legibly write the English language. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical Correctional setting are desirable but not required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform self-carry medication line daily or when directed by the Chief Pharmacist, HSA or designee.
- Assist the staff with conducting medication pass (pill line) as needed and when scheduled.
- Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and formulary constraints.
- Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, crash carts, emergency bags and pyxis.
- Assist the pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating pill line/ restricted medication cards for AICs.
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing unit doses or pre-packaged medications.
- Maintain the narcotics count and the needle and syringe inventories.
- Maintain and restock adequate supplies for the pyxis.
- Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
- Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.
- Perform minor clerical duties, such as use of electronic medical records, computer documentation and scheduling, scanning documents, disposing of paper documentation, filing, typing, callouts, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
