NEEDED: Medical Assistant

LOCATION: 1000 Air Base Road, Pollock, LA 71467

HOURS: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, not to exceed 40 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid license or certification in any of the following: Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

SUPPORT DOCUMENTS: To be considered for an interview, applicants must provide the following support documentation:

  • Resume listing both the start and end dates for each job experience
  • License or Certificate
  • CPR Certification or statement of willingness to obtain one before start date
  • Copy of diplomas and/or certificates to support stated education or training.
  • Provide three (3) letters of reference.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)

  • Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments for medical providers and visiting clinical specialty consultants in management of patient flow through the chronic care clinics, sick-call appointments, and physical examinations, optometry and general clinics when scheduled.
  • Communicating patient messages to the medical providers
  • Entering and updating patient information in the Electronic Medical Records System
  • Capturing and documenting vital signs
  • Updating Patient medical and family history
  • Assisting with clinical procedures by preparing instruments and retrieving desired items from the pyxis machine.
  • Immunization Administration
  • Wound Care
  • Suture Removal
  • Patient Education
  • Cleaning Exam Room
  • Operation of EKG Machine
  • Maintain supplies in all exam rooms
  • Nasal Swabs
  • Draw blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes.
  • Collect and process Urinalysis
  • Screening eye exams and assist physicians and mid-level practitioners in minor surgical cases.
  • Call for patients who are a no show for scheduled appointments
  • Answer radio traffic for the department
  • Send notifications regarding scheduled appointments
  • Maintain supplies in all exam rooms.
  • Receive inmate passes, pull, file, and copy medical records.
  • Other duties as assigned by the HSA or designee.
